Following the didactic portion of the course students are invited into the clinic to gain hands on practical experience.

Classroom (Didactic) Education

During this time, you will learn the fundamentals of laser. You will have an understanding of the types of lasers and their uses. You will study the anatomy of skin. You will discuss and learn the fundamentals of performing laser tattoo removal treatments. Your experienced instructor will lead in-depth discussions about the types of tattoos and how to remove them, tattoo removal techniques, and pre- and post-treatment protocols. You will also explore topics such as:

  • The difference between nano and picosecond lasers.
  • Q-switched lasers and how they can effectively remove many types of tattoos
  • Laser physics, tissue interaction, and the Fitzpatrick scale
  • How tattoos interact with the skin and change over time
  • Wavelengths needed for tattoo removal treatments
  • Potential side effects and how to manage them
  • Laser equipment, safety and settings

Safety is our number one priority, and we make sure all our students are knowledgeable and gain a thorough understanding of handing cosmetic lasers before they enter the treatment room. This course meets all LSO training requirements outlined by the ANSI Z136.1 Safe Use of Lasers standard.

Hands On Training

London Laser Training  supplements classroom education with clinicals where you will receive hands-on practice with advanced, state-of-the-art laser technology and learn a wide range of techniques to provide safe and effective treatments to your clients.

In a real clinic environment, you will have the opportunity to work on multiple different clients and tattoo types in order to practice safe and effective cosmetic laser techniques. The technology we use is most effective and includes all three wavelengths (1064/755/532) to address all colors. Although most tattoo devices do not include all three wavelengths, knowing the different types is key to success.

The hands-on portion allows you to practice on real clients who are removing a variety of tattoo types, sizes and colors. You will experience training with the latest laser tattoo removal technology on the market and become familiar with equipment features and settings.

Course Objectives

By the end of your  training you will be able to:

  • Explain how tattoos interact with skin and change over time
  • Demonstrate proper laser tattoo removal techniques
  • Explain the risks, benefits, and pre- and post-care protocols for tattoo removal
  • Develop a treatment plan and perform treatments on different skin and tattoo types
  • Explain the contraindications of laser tattoo removal
  • Demonstrate safety practices and protocols of laser tattoo removal treatments
  • Explain the difference between Q-switched lasers and other types of cosmetic lasers

Course Modules

Your tuition includes a course manual that consists of written reference materials, protocols and  examples of history, consent and policy forms.

Certification

There is an exam at the end of the course successful completion of which is required in order to gain a certificate of achievement.

Upon completion of training, each London Laser Training client will receive three certifications acknowledging their newfound background in laser training and gain authorization to perform laser tattoo removal and other cosmetic laser procedures with Q-switched and Pico lasers.

Our training program is taught by leading experts in the tattoo removal industry and will equip you with comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience to help you succeed in this growing field. The certifications you will earn in this course are shared by leading medical and tattoo removal practitioners nationwide.

Certified Laser Specialist (CLS) Certification

The CLS certification attests your in-depth knowledge and experience with lasers gained through the didactic and hands-on training offered at London Laser Training. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Laser Physics
  • Laser-Skin Interaction
  • Skin Assessment Anatomy & Physiology
  • Risk Factors & Aftercare
  • Contraindications
  • Extensive Hands-On Training & Coaching

Laser Safety Officer (LSO) Certifications

The LSO certification verifies your comprehension of Class IV medical laser risks. This includes, but is not limited to:

  •    Laser Optics & Laser Fundamentals
  •     Laser Classifications
  •     Laser & Optical Radiation Bioeffects
  •     Non-Direct Beam Hazards
  •     Laser Control & Methods
  •     Regulations
  •     Standards & Reporting
  •     Laser Safety Officer Duties

Both the CLS and LSO certifications are required in many areas for technicians to operate a laser. All training clients will be trained using powerful Q-switched, diode and picosecond lasers that are professional-grade.

Advanced Laser Tattoo Removal Certification

As a London Laser Training client, you will also receive a certificate recognizing your experience removing tattoos with non-ablative Q-switched and Pico lasers.

The three wavelengths that you will be trained to use are:

  •     1064 nm (Q-switched Nd:YAG laser)
  •     532 nm (Q-switched Nd:YAG laser)
  •     755 nm (Pico Laser)

Certification in these laser wavelengths will allow patients to recognize that you have assessed real patient tattoos, know how to determine the best laser setting to use when treating tattoos, and have personally performed treatments under the supervision of tattoo removal training professionals.
